Our Journey

Tahir’s journey into law began not in a courtroom, but in a newsroom. After secondary education at a former grammar school in Lancashire, he undertook journalism training at the BBC. A chance role as a voluntary interpreter became the springboard for his legal career.

Spotted and encouraged by a law lecturer, Tahir gained early work experience observing court proceedings and discussing cases directly with High Court judges. He joined the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2005 and, despite a serious head injury that postponed his studies, successfully completed his Bar Exams at BPP in 2008. He was mentored by a commercial Queen’s Counsel and two Chancery Commercial High Court Judges.

After qualification, Tahir honed his skills at The Insolvency Service, where he developed a passion for insolvency law. He then worked across commercial, insolvency, employment, and property matters at leading barristers’ chambers in Lincoln’s Inn and Temple. Seeking to broaden his expertise, he cross-qualified as a solicitor advocate at a niche commercial litigation firm, focusing on dispute resolution until 2013, when he returned to independent practice as a barrister.

Tahir is the son of a Muslim immigrant factory foreman, born in Lancashire. His grandfather, originally from India (later Pakistan after partition), served on supply ships to British soldiers during World War II. After the war, he returned to the UK and helped rebuild Britain’s cotton and weaving industry. In the 1960s, Tahir’s father came to the UK as a teenager to join him.

This family history of resilience, contribution, and building bridges informs Tahir’s commitment to his clients and to the highest standards of the English Bar.
